Project Story

Bela Development designed and built this 600 sq ft accessory dwelling unit in Inglewood, managing every phase from architectural planning through final construction. Designed as a comfortable standalone residence, the home opens into a bright, open-concept living space that combines the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Granite countertops, warm wood cabinetry, and an arched entry door create an inviting first impression, while natural light enhances the home's open feel. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom complete the layout, with engineered wood-look flooring providing a seamless finish throughout.

The Goal

The homeowner wanted to maximize the property's potential by adding a detached ADU without altering the existing main residence. The new home needed to provide everything required for everyday living—including a full kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms, and dedicated climate control—while complying with California's AB-2299 ADU requirements.

The Challenge

Designing a functional two-bedroom home within a 600 sq ft footprint required thoughtful planning. Every square foot had to serve a purpose while maintaining an open, comfortable feel. The project also required careful coordination of structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, including separate ductless mini-split units for each bedroom, all while integrating seamlessly alongside the existing home.

The Solution

Following the architectural design phase—including as-built measurements, schematic floor plans, and complete construction documents—Bela Development brought the project to life with meticulous attention to detail. The open-concept layout creates a natural flow between the kitchen, dining, and living spaces, featuring granite countertops, full-overlay wood cabinetry, and stainless-steel fixtures. Both bedrooms include vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans, and individual wall-mounted mini-split systems for personalized comfort. The bathroom was finished with a quartz-topped vanity, a framed mirror, oil-rubbed bronze fixtures, a tiled shower, and a frameless-style sliding glass enclosure, creating a refined, modern look.

Final Outcome

The completed ADU functions as a genuine standalone home rather than a converted afterthought — a full kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms, and a finished bathroom, each with its own climate control, all within 600 sq ft. It gives the owner an independent, move-in-ready living space on the same lot as the main house.
